How Hard Can It Be?

'Bang!' We were of and running as fast as the wind could go.
You see athletics day isn't very far and so every Wednesday or Friday all the senior classes do some practicing.
Beeppppppppppp!.. The horn went off. Opps, there goes my group better go!

2 mins later.
We are sitting on the grass learning how to do shot-put.
I look around at the people in my group and I can see their hands, I know they can't resist pulling out the grass.
It was finally my turn. I thought to myself " how easy could this be, I'll just throw it like a tennis ball".
STOP! I felt the weight of the ball pressing down on my hands.
If I did what I was planning to do I could injure my arm.
To do it right you had to put the shot-put on 1 hand then put your arm behind your ear finally giving a mighty push forward.
So basically there's a little trick behind every sport.
Beeppppppppppp!.. It was high jump time...
Im a bit on the short side... Got any tricks?...

I can't be happening! It's not possible!

'Nooooooooooooo!' I think to myself as I relise 2010 is near to an end.
I'm definitely not excited. I can't imagine myself leaving Summerland.
I've been their for 5 years and they have been an outstanding part in my life.
Teachers I been with and the friends I met along the way I won't ever forget.
Summerland is a place where kindness is inside every child, teacher, and principals heart.
I was sitting on the mat today when I get given a notice only to find out that it's the
year 6 graduation dinner. The year is moving before our very eyes and yet we can't see or believe that it's actually happening.
As we all very well know though life moves on and so do we.
So for each and everyone of the year 6's Use the last few weeks we have and make them the best!!

Chickens or eggs?

So their I am sitting in the class thinking for something to blog about.
And as if a magical Fairy heard me and suddenly granted my wish.
Next to me someone shouted how about ' what came first the chicken or the egg?'

To me it's always been a mystery. But others believe that God only created animals, human etc... on the 7  days he created earth. Or some say that when using your alphabet chicken does come first in the dictionary seeing it starts with a 'C'.

While others say that the egg came first because dinosaurs laid them and probably different breeds mated forming a "thing" of what is now called a chicken. Who knows chickens could be crossbreeds. And if the chicken didn't come out of a egg what other logical explanation could there be? A stomach?

Then you have people like me. The ones who don't want to think or find a proper answer.
That's working out pretty good for me...
But the real question is... What side are YOU on?

Stop Hurting My Brain! #3

Hey I remember you, you remember me? Wait, never mind. So I have a question for you.
Have you ever thought about what it would feel like to live ib outer space and float around all day while avoiding rocks? Cause... Neither have I.

Ok now then, here are last weeks answers:

Easy: 1 because you only took 1 away
Hard: There's a grandfather his son and his sons son. 3 generations. Yes extremely confusing.

This week riddles:

Easy: They belong to me they belong to you.

Hard: Paul,s height is 6 feet, he's a assistant
At a buchers shop and wears size nine shoes.

Colourful but yet disgusting milk

What kind of title was that? Ok hold your horses. Before you start thinking twice about me listen to my story. It was a chilly wet Friday morning and again we were doing the same things. Well, not exactly we were doing a science experiment!
Listen to the magic. Oh and before I forget, as awesome as it might look and seem DONT drink this milk!!!

Equipments:
(items used in process)
1. Milk
2. Shallow bowl
3. Food colouring
4. Dishwashing liquid

And this is what we did:
Pour some milk into a bowl.
Add in different colours of food coloring in different areas.
Get the dishwasher liquid and put in about four drops.

The results:
When the drops were put in the colours started to enlarge and mix. They were also moving in closer to the edges. Sometime it would bubble up and that was an awesome effect.

How?
Well the Dishwashing liquid as we all know has something in it called soap while the milk has fats. I also learnt that they are like enemies trying to avoid one another and when the Dishwashing liquid came to the milk it was just running away from it like a small girl.
And the food coloring? Well it's only job was to make it look more fabulous.
I love science experiments and I can't wait till lovely Miss Davies sets up the next one!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhh... Just imagine!

And... BANG!!! Our class was Doing some science and somebody had mixed chemicals together and caused a reaction which ended up as a HUGE explosion!
Ok fine, that didn't actually happen but soon something will hopefully come.
Right now we're just learning the basics about science like for an example lately we just did an experiment this is what we did:
1. Fill the plastic cup midway with water
2. Get some filter About the size of you two fingers put together
3. Find a felt tip and draw a line across it
4. Dip the paperon the very bottom of it.

What happened next? Well The water rised up and pushed the line causing the 2 colours to separate and as we all know that colours are not made up of just one colour.
Rm 17 had a wonderful time discovering new things and can't wait till the next experiment arrives.
